For Children

The Summer Library Program is available for children between the ages of 3 and 12. This program is an annual event that encourages kids to read more books! Children can read books to earn prizes. This is called the Reading Incentive Program. Even toddlers can participate because a parent can read to the child. To start simply pick up a Book Log anytime after June 1st.

In July on Tuesday mornings from 10-11 we will have entertainment for kids ages 3-12. A variety of puppeteers, musicians and the Blank Park Zoo will be scheduled. The 2014 theme is Fizz, Boom Read so there will be an emphasis on science. These shows will be held at the Colfax Christian Church in the fellowship hall. Pre-registration is encouraged but not a requirement for attendance. Contact Jill at the library by calling 515-674-3625 or emailing .

Toddler Story Time is led by Diane Ellens on Tuesday mornings from 9:30-10:15 at the library in the lower level. Preschool children and babies are welcome accompanied by a caregiver. Stories, songs, snacks and a craft keep tiny ones busy. Then afterwards parents are welcome to check out books. Story Time is only held during scheduled Colfax-Mingo school days. If school is cancelled or postponed because of inclement weather then story time will be cancelled also.
